The North-Eastern border between Israel and Syria was established after Israel captured the Golan Heights from Syria in 1967. The capture and this new border is not internationally recognised but considered an occupied territory. When fights erupted at the border in 2011, hundreds of Palestinians breached the border fence.
The civil war in Syria in 2011 led Israel to build a new 6 meter high steel fence in january 2013. The fortified fence is enforced with bunkers, watchtowers, camera's and underground sensors. The notebook features the old fence from before 2013.

Border length: 76 km
Established: 1967
Fence height: 2 m
